Which Airport, and Which Way to Travel
The single most useful decision in Cyprus is made before you book the flight: fly into the airport nearest your base. Larnaca is closest to Ayia Napa, Protaras, Larnaca and Nicosia; Paphos serves Paphos town, Coral Bay and the Latchi/Polis coast. Limassol sits in the middle and works from either, though Larnaca is usually the shorter, cheaper run. Landing at the wrong airport can mean a 1.5–2 hour cross-island transfer, so it’s worth checking.
Once you’ve landed, there are three ways to reach the hotel. A pre-booked private transfer is the calmest — fixed price agreed up front, a name-sign meet-and-greet, and the driver waits even if the flight is late; best for groups, night arrivals and resort runs with luggage. A metered taxi from the rank suits short hops into town, but night and Sunday tariffs are higher. Buses are cheapest (the Kapnos shuttle to Nicosia, local buses to Larnaca and Paphos towns, ~€1.50–8) but they don’t serve most resorts directly and stop in the evening. Note there is no Uber in Cyprus; Bolt operates but is strongest around Larnaca, Nicosia and Limassol and thin in the west.
